&lt;p&gt;This week &lt;b&gt;Alan Mertens&lt;/b&gt; on KUSP&amp;#8217;s &lt;a href="http://blogs.kusp.org/thingsaint/" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;Things Ain&amp;#8217;t What They Used To Be&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt; features a tribute to &lt;b&gt;Bob Brookmeyer&lt;/b&gt;, valve trombonist, bandleader, arranger, and educator, who passed away recently at age 81.
